There is a Tik Tok phenomenon of people eating all around the world in cities like New York, London, LA, or just their own kitchen. I loved these videos, and a few months ago, I was curious if I could do something similar. This spreadsheet started as a way to keep track of the different countries and ethnicities represented in Nashville’s culinary scene. This expanded into a directory of Nashville restaurants by the cuisine represented.
The intent of this project is to provide easier access and better visibility to Nashville’s international and minority communities. This comes with the huge asterisk that my google searching can not express the full complexities of a chef’s life and cooking, and for the most part, even borders are a poor approximation of lived experience. That being said, I hope this tool can help Nashvillian’s gain exposure and connection to the the world.
To use: Open the link below, it will take you to view a google sheet. Apply filters to sift through content (like cuisine, if it caters, etc.) You will find the businesses’ adress, website, yelp, menu, and any other notes. The sheet is also coded by color, a guide is shown on the right.
